Family Adventure Saturday: #1

We pretty much have the coolest daddy in the whole entire world. He established 2nd Saturdays as "Family Adventure Saturday" and for our first of many, we hit up a local pumpkin patch and it delivered! We had so much fun and fall a little more in love with this little area of Wisconsin every time we venture out. Happy Fall!

Down By The River

Sometimes you have a long couple of weeks and your husband comes home and says, "Let's forget everything and go to the river" and if you have any brains at all, you drop what you're doing and say "okay" and 7 minutes later you're on your way. This experience is extremely enhanced by purchasing 2 pairs of $5 sunglasses on the same day, and trying the pink ones on your 2 year old son. And should the "let's drop everything" thing and the sunglasses thing not be enough, one should arm said 2 year old son with a king size chocolate candy bar. And thus you will have the greatest day ever. While not what some doctors would have ordered, it's totally what this doctor ordered, and let's face it, I'm totally smart enough to be a doctor.

Christmas Day Highlights Included:

Having our very first Christmas as a family of 3.

We had such a wonderful Christmas. Though it was a little different than normal to have Christmas on a Sunday, I thought it was totally cool to go to church on Christmas. That is, after all, the whole point. :) We got up early, watched the kids open their gifts from Santa, and then we all got dressed and ready for church. My mom is the choir director and the whole church meeting consisted of musical wonders from her choir. It was magical. Then we came home and opened gifts from each other. Our family theme for gift giving this year was "food storage". There were a lot of quick oats around these parts on Christmas day!

It was perfect being here with family. It was a true white Christmas, and life really, was perfect for a day!

Babies Everywhere!

Nolan has a whole bunch of cousins. Like hundreds. Seriously. The cousins very closest to his age are just 7 weeks older than he is, and they're twins. Now that they're all here and out of the tummies, they hang out a lot.


Our dinners (pre-babies) used to be quiet, relaxed, and flexible. Now when we get together, our dinners look like this:

I love this photo and how my brother and Collin each have a baby to tend to. And my brother has both hands going! So cute.

A couple weekends ago we got together with my cousins and their kids. These are the 4 youngest great-grandchildren of my Grandpa Sherwood.


I never thought that I would be a part of the babies everywhere, but I'm so grateful that I am. We love Nolan. A lot.

Past, Present, Future

I've been thinking a lot about you lately. That's right, you. My readers. My friends. And in so many cases the people who know how infertility actually feels. I feel the overwhelming need to be loyal to you because it really seems like we've been through so much together. So in a lot of ways it has been really hard to share my son with you. It feels a little bit like I'm rubbing it in your face, or bragging, or joining "the club" and leaving you all behind. It feels weird. But at the same time, this is truly been the best 12 days of my life, and friends share everything, right? Anyway, I haven't gone to the other side, I haven't forgotten what it feels like to be childless or infertile, and the truth is that I am still infertile and will deal with infertility my whole life. Please don't forget that. I'm still the same ol' infertile, sometimes bitter, sometimes optimistic, Ashlee. I just have a baby now. :) This blog will still be about infertility. But for me, my infertility includes my sweet, sweet son. So Infertility Spoiled Eggs will just cover a few more topics. I hope that's okay with all of you. You really are my favorite people in the whole wide world. Your e-mails and comments make me smile every time. I never want to hurt your feelings or gloat about something that I know is so sensitive.

I've also been thinking about the 1st week and a half of baby Nolan's life and what the next week and a half holds for him. In his short little past he has been smothered with love from family in Idaho and in Utah. In the present, he is being smothered with love by family in his mommy's hometown, and in the future he will be smothered with love by family in his daddy's hometown. What an absolute miracle! We are so grateful for our Idaho/Utah family, our Eagar family, and are SOO excited to see our Mesa family!

Celebrating Deliciousness

The weekend before Nolan was born we stayed in Utah with our awesome family. Salt Lake was having a TasteMakers weekend where we walked around the city to a bunch of really amazing restaurants and ate the most delicious appetizers ever! So much fun!





That was the first and probably last time we'll ever be able to eat at such fancy restaurants so we soaked it all in and ate ourselves sick! Thanks Ryan and Linds for the great time!

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Okay, I'm a huge Christmas fan, so Christmas actually is the most wonderful time of the year, but right now, where I'm at in this year, and at in life in general, it feels pretty wonderful. In the next 3 months we will:

move at least twice
travel to Utah
have 2 family reunions
graduate from Arizona State University
sell our car
sell all our furniture
travel to Idaho
have a baby!
start fresh

It's taken me a little longer that I would have liked, to think of these things as wonderful rather than stressful but I'm there! And I'm so excited! Especially about graduating, moving to Chicago and meeting baby boy. So much to look forward to! And I can't wait to share it all with you.

Speaking of sharing wonderful things; last weekend was my senior recital and my family outdid themselves on the beautiful decorations and atmosphere and it was so much fun to sing my heart out!
